Young Doctors’ Association stages protest in front of hospitals

The Young Doctors’ Association has said that the health department has been destroyed because of the inefficiency of the Secretary health. According to the YDA, the secretary is an electrical engineer and hence is not aware of the specific demands of a health department.

According to the YDA, the secretary does not have the required know-how of affairs regarding health owing to which there is an obvious dearth of burn units, cardiac units, emergency services, liver, kidney wards. Various projects e.g. Wazirabad cardiac unit, Gujranwala burn unit, Mayo Hospital surgical tower, Services Hospital radiology department, are still incomplete even after the secretary’s tenure is almost ending. Due to the ban on doctors’ training, there is a dearth of doctors in the hospital as well.

The YDA staged a protest in front of all the major hospitals in the Lahore district today. According to Punjab minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafiq, these protests are unreasonable. He further said that all legitimate demands of the YDA have been accepted and that these protests do not make any sense.
