LAHORE: Punjab government has recently launched a programme under which medicines will be delivered to registered patients at their doorstep, according to media outlets.

Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir inaugurated this programme by handing over a medicine package to a courier company which was then subsequently delivered to a female hepatitis patient in the Shahdra area of Lahore, on Wednesday.

On this occasion, Imran Nazir said that the programme will help around 83,000 registered hepatitis patients across the whole of Punjab.

Under the programme, the registered hepatitis patients will be checked on a monthly basis in a nearby hospital and will be delivered medicines based on that.

Imran Nazir also said that the government is planning to adopt the same initiatives for AIDS and tuberculosis patients soon.

Punjab Minister for Specialised Health Care and Medical Education, Khawaja Salman Rafique, said that the government is now focusing on introducing a transparent supply chain management system to help eliminate the loss incurred due to expiry of medicines, but also to ensure that the ultimate needs of the end users are kept in view above all.
