Local administration on high alert as Nullah Leh’s water level rises

All operational wings of the local administration will remain on high alert as water in Nullah Leh reached a high level on Wednesday, with Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasting more rains during the coming weeks.

District government announced an emergency and alerted all concerned departments to take care of any eventuality following heavy rainfall on Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Seeing a rise in water level, Civil Defence Department, Rescue 1122 and all other agencies were deployed at sensitive locations along with both sides Nullah Leh.

“During the morning rainfall, the city received around 80mm rain, but the situation remained normal and fully under control,” PMD Deputy Commissioner Talat Gondal said.

The water level at Gawalmandi Bridge touched 9ft, while water level touched 8ft at New Katarian.

Talat Gondal and Raja Shaukat visited different sections of Nullah Leh and monitored water flow.
