ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has been petitioned to suspend and disqualify Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in light of the Joint Investigation Team’s report submitted to apex court and made public here on Wednesday.
The petition says that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been caught misusing his position and power by the JIT.
‘Mian Nawaz Sharif has benefited his family through illicit means and made assets both inside the country and abroad and transferred them to his kids,’ it reads. It also alleges that Sharif family has lied to the apex court and JIT while submitting falsified documents.
‘The Court has already disqualified 9 MNAs because of their fake, forged degrees,’ the petition reiterates.
The petition was moved by Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi and made three children of prime minister; Hassan and Hussain Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz respondents along with Captain Safdar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, cousin of PM Tariq Shafi, secretary ministry of finance, National Accountability Bureau Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhary, governor State Bank of Pakistan and Chairman National Bank of Pakistan Saeed Ahmed.
The petitioner has prayed that PM Nawaz Sharif be immediately suspended from his post till the final decision and be disqualified for lying to the court and in light of JIT report.
It is pertinent to mention here that the 6 member JIT headed by Additional Director General FIA Wajid Zia and comprising of representatives from NAB, SECP, State Bank, MI and ISI submitted their long report, with relevant documents, appendixes and evidence running into 10 volumes of over 6000 pages to Supreme Court of Pakistan on 10th of July where it came to the core that Maryam Nawaz was indeed beneficial owner of London flats, along with the Sharif family being accused for forging, falsification of documents and failure to account for their wealth that was beyond their known sources of income.
