Punjab CM summons report of recovery of male domestic helper’s body

LAHORE: Taking notice of the incident where the body of a 16-year old male domestic helper’s body was recovered from the residence of a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has directed the Capital City Police Officer Lahore to probe the incident and submit a report in the matter.

The body of deceased – Akhtar, 16, was recovered from the residence of PML-N MPA Shahjehan in the city’s Akbari Mandi area. As per official reports, the body was discovered from inside a sack.

Moreover, the boy’s sister – Atia – was also discovered in an injured state, allegedly bearing torture marks, police reports suggested.

A murder case on the complaint of the victim’s father has been lodged at the Akbari Gate Police Station against Shahjehan’s daughter, Fauzia. However, the house of the accused was found to be locked, with no signs of  MPA and her daughter.

Police teams are on a look out to arrest Fauzia, officials said.

 Atia, was later reportedly released from hospital following medical treatment, police informed.

Moreover, Akhtar’s body was handed over to his family following a post-mortem. His funeral will be later held in their native town in Okara.

Shahjehan, a widow and mother of five, was appointed to the Punjab Assembly on a reserved seat for women (307-W) following general elections in 2013.
