PM’s aide visits victims, IDPs camp in AJK

On directions of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, State Minister Marvi Memon on Tuesday visited district Poonch of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) to condole with the families of martyrs and inquired after the injured as a result of Indian firing in nearby areas of the Line of Control (LoC).

The state minister visited the homes of Faiza Saleem and Kalsoom Altaf martyred in Chattra area of Abbaspur and reiterated the support of the Pakistani government for the Kashmiri people. She also visited the internally displaced persons (IDPs) camp where she interacted with the people displaced due to Indian shelling.

She inquired after the injured and appreciated their courage and said that the government would provide every facility for their treatment and rehabilitation. Speaking on the occasion, Marvi said that India should respect the ceasefire agreement at the Line of Control. “It is a grave human rights violation as Indian firing has resulted in death of innocent Kashmiris,” she remarked.

She appreciated the befitting response of the Pakistan Army to Indian violations and said the borders were secure and they enjoy a peaceful sleep due to their sacrifices at borders. She also criticised brutalities and atrocities of Indian armed forces against innocent Kashmiris in Indian-held Kashmir (IHK). She said that people were demanding right to self-determination in accordance with the United Nations resolutions.

She called upon the international community to pressurise India to immediately put an end to atrocities against innocent Kashmiris and resolve the long-standing dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions for durable peace in the region.
