LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has sought reply over the federal government’s failure to call Council of Common Interest (CCI) meeting for implementation of water policy.

The LHC took up the non-implementation on water policy case on Wednesday.

During the course of the hearing, the deputy attorney general took the plea that the PM Secretariat had sent a summary for the council’s June 8 session; and that the meeting should be organised within 90 days of the summary.

The chief justice, while expressing displeasure, remarked water problem is an important matter, which requires immediate attention. If something unusual happens, then would you still wait for 90 days, he questioned.

He further observed it is sad to see that government is not giving any attention towards serious issues, in this case, water.

The court while seeking a reply from the federal government on not convening the meeting of the CCI on July 17 and directed it to file written a reply in the next hearing.
