Yesterday, West Indies defeated Pakistan by 19 runs to record their second win in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017, Chasing 245 in 38 overs. ICC attributed the victory to West Indie’s Deandra Dottin’s fantastic performance. In light of this the ICC Facebook page uploaded a post of the match which also showcased the Pakistani Women’s team.

What incurred, was a shoddy attempt at trolling the Pakistani women’s team and belittling Pakistani cricket at large.

The comment sparked a feud between supporters of the view and those against it, whilst spectators played their part by commenting with emoji and gifs, contributing nothing to the schism itself.

But, perhaps the best response to the troll that essentially shut him down and in doing so elevated the division was by the International Cricket Council itself, when it commented in favour of the green team by reminding Rahul of Pakistan’s momentous recent Champions trophy win.

The ICC’s unexpected support for the Pakistani team that too to simply shut down a Facebook troll surprised the fans typically on the Indian side of the border whilst supporters of team green rejoiced.

Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of the entire ordeal was how bewildered the opposing camp was at the ICC’s contribution to the comment. In particular one “Raja Raja” Cholan was upset above all.

He even demanded justice.

Abhijeet Jha, for one, may not quite know what “terrorism” is.

Though the incident seems small given the wider socio-political problems of the two countries and the world at large, this one reply from a typically neutral body may not be much but it implies that there is no room for trolls especially when it comes to solid sportsmanship.
