ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting chaired by prime minister Nawaz Sharif is ongoing at the PM House to discuss the government’s strategy post-Panama case Joint Investigation Team’s (JIT) report.
Sources are reported to have stated that various federal ministers, advisers, legal experts and Attorney General Ashtar Ausaf Ali are attending the session.
The agenda of the meeting, as per the sources is to discuss the government’s potential reply over the JIT report and to examine the report in detail.
Moreover, the prime minister is also to be apprised on the legal aspects of the report.
A similar meeting was held yesterday by the prime minister after the report was submitted to the Supreme Court.
The JIT, in its final probe report into the Sharif family’s assets, found that the prime minister and his three children — Maryam, Hussain and Hasan — had accumulated wealth beyond their own known sources of income.
The hearing of the court was adjourned until July 17.
At a press conference Monday evening, senior federal ministers rubbished the JIT report terming it ‘trash’, claiming that the government will counter the report in detail in the Supreme Court.
