Police refuses bribe, returns stolen items to owner

LAHORE: Police set an example of honesty by rejecting bribe offers of hundreds of thousands rupees by a thief and handed over cash and valuables to the real owner.

DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf distributed cash reward and commendation certificates among the SHO and his team.

DIG on the occasion said that honest police officials have increased the respect of Lahore Police which is why cash reward and commendation certificates are being distributed among them for their encouragement.

According to the details, Incharge ASI Khalid Hussain along with gunman and constables were performing duties during a snap checking operation ordered by the SP Cantt. Rana Tahir, at 2:00 AM on July 8. A person named Mohsin was signaled to stop during the snap checking but he escaped. Police officials subsequently chased and arrested him. The accused revealed that he was trying to run away after stealing Rs 450,000 and gold jewellery from his master’s home. The accused offered the money as bribe to the ASI Khalid Hussain and his team but they refused to accept the bribe and informed about the incident to SHO and Cantt SP Rana Tahir.

The stolen money and the jewellery were handed over to the original owner.
