Lawyers to move against four ministers for ‘controversial’ media talk

The Judicial Activism Panel (JAP) will file contempt of court petition in Supreme Court against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ministers Khawaja Saad Rafique, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Asif over their press conference on Saturday.

The aforementioned press conference of PML-N ministers at PID, in which they doubted on the presence of Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence (MI) representatives in Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to probing into the alleged involvement of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family.

Following the press conference of PML-N ministers, the members of judicial activism panel in its urgent meeting said that government ministers committed severe contempt of court as they attempted to create conspiracy against the state institutions.

The meeting was attended by Chairman JAP Azhar Siddique advocate and other prominent lawyers Hamayun Faiz Rasool, Muhammad Irfan, Muneer Ahmad, Zahid Sadiq, Sidra Chaudhary and others while it was attended by other civil right activists Amna Malik, Abdullah Malik and others.

Concluding the meeting they decided to plea in Supreme Court against the ministers and will seek punishment under section five.
