Three professors of Emerson College, Multan, going to attend a conference being held in Islamabad on Saturday were killed when their car hit a drain wall in beat 5 Chakri M-2 North Motorway Zone.
According to details, four professors, who were on their way to Islamabad from Multan to attend the teachers’ conference, met an accident on Motorway near Chakri.
Three of them including Professor Rana Dilshad, divisional president of the Anjuman-e-Asatiza Pakistan, Professor Rao Zafar Iqbal and Professor Rao Zulfiqar, president of Punjab Professors Lecturers Association died on the spot, while another was severally injured.
The injured was shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences Islamabad (PIMS) Hospital. The dead bodies of the professors killed in the unfortunate accident were also shifted to PIMS from where they would be sent back to Multan.
The police and rescue sources said the accident took place near the Chakri Interchange on the Motorway because of over-speeding, as the driver lost control of the vehicle.
When contacted, Dr Nasreen, Medico Legal Officer (MLO), PIMS, said that the case of dead was mainly because of heads injuries, as they did not fasten their safety belt. However, she said that they also sustained other multiple injuries on chests and ears.
Talking to Pakistan Today, Dr Zulfiqar Ghori of PIMS said that three professors were died on the spot, while another got severe head injury and was admitted in neurosurgery, but he was out of danger.
He said that the dead bodies would be soon handed over to their relatives and dispatched to their native town after necessary medico-legal formalities.
