A large number of deadly firearms and weapons, including Russian Kalashnikovs, American pump action, etc., have gone missing from the police armouries in the major cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Multan and Islamabad. At least 20 police officials, including two DSPs and four inspectors, have been accused of carrying it out, and a detailed inquiry is underway.

According to details, IG Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera has assigned the concerned DPOs and SPs to carry out a detailed investigation regarding this matter. Reports suggest these weapons could have been sold to renowned weapons dealers, after erasing their license numbers.

However, it has been found out that the accused police officials have kept some of the weapons for their personal use. According to some reports, these police officers also have contacts with wanted criminals and it is quite possible that these weapons have been sold to them.

A detailed investigation is underway regarding the matter.
