Six members of one family die, as car plunges into ravine in Muzaffarabad

Six people belonging to the same family died on Tuesday, when their car plunged into a deep ravine in Muzaffarabad, according to officials.

The accident happened at around 10:40 am, as the victims were on their way to a higher altitude grassland beyond Pirchinasi, according to details. Reportedly, the accident completely destroyed the car, killing six people on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Altaf, his spouse Arshan Bibi and 18-month old daughter Alina, Sajeela Bibi, Urfat Bibi and Ghulam Muhammad. Altaf was the one who was driving the ill-fated car.

Only Raza Munir, aged nine, was rescued by the rescue officials and was immediately shifted to Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed al Nahayan Hospital Muzaffarabad, according to reports.

Pirchinasi is a popular tourist resort that lies 34 kilometres east of Muzaffarabad, at an altitude of 9,300 feet. It is an extremely busy resort, especially during summer vacations.

According to reports, the family, that resided in the area of Pirchinasi, had started their journey from Niazpura, an area located 8km before Pirchinasi at an altitude of 5,500 feet along the same road.
