Dengue larvae discovered from 48 locations in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Cantonment Board’s (RCB) sanitation staff has discovered dengue larvae from at least 48 different spots in the city.

A major amount was discovered near the cantonment and criminal cases were registered against six people. According to details, these larvae were discovered in a routine check-up of houses in the cantonment area of Rawalpindi. Out of the 2,104 houses checked, larvae was discovered from at least 48 locations.

Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne infectious disease with increasingly frequent epidemics. In Pakistan, in the summer of 2011, more than 300 people died of Dengue fever. The prevalence of the disease was over 14,000. The outbreaks occurred mostly in the Lahore area, Punjab, Pakistan. The disease has been controlled to a great extent due to the continouos efforts of the Government of Punjab.
