Two members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) who are investigating the Panama Papers case have reached Doha on Tuesday morning to record the statement of Qatari Prince Hammad bin Jasim, sources told agencies.

According to the sources, JIT members Irfan Naeem Mangi and Brig Kamran Khurshid left the Islamabad airport while four members of the JIT are questioning Hussain Nawaz, who appeared before the JIT team at 11 am on Tuesday.

According to the sources, the JIT two members will return to Pakistan this (Tuesday) evening after recording the statement of the Qatari prince. The JIT has a deadline to submit its final report to the Supreme Court Panama Paper’s bench by July 10th.

Earlier, Prince Jasim had said that he would welcome the JIT team as they visit his villa in Doha, and would provide all the relevant details regarding his family’s business association with the Sharif family.

The Qatari prince has refused to record his statement at the Pakistan High Commission in Qatar and rather asked the JIT to visit his residence to record his statement.

On June 22, the JIT had written a letter to the Qatari prince to appear before it at the Pakistan High Commission in Qatar and record his statement.

The Supreme Court Panama Papers’ implementation bench has hinted that the Qatari prince’s letter, which the Sharif family had produced before the apex court, will be thrown into dustbin if he fails to record his statement.
