Evacuation of 300 dilapidated buildings in Rawalpindi unsuccessful

RAWALPINDI: The authorities have failed to evacuate 300 dilapidated buildings located in Rawalpindi ahead of monsoon season putting thousands of precious human lives at risk.

The dilapidated buildings are located in Safara Bazaar, RA Bazaar, Banni Chowk, Jameeh Masjid Raod GhunjMandi, Railway Road, Gawalmandi, Railway Station Road, and adjoining areas.

The district government and Rescue 1122 had declared around 300 buildings located in Cantonment dilapidated, Garrison and city areas Rawalpindi and asked the authorities to evacuate these buildings before the monsoon season to save precious lives.

The Pakistan Metrological Department has forecast long spell of rainfall in forthcoming monsoon season, after which the WASA, Rescue 1122 along with all other department have been put on high alert.

The citizens have lashed out at the negligent officials and urged them to get dilapidated buildings evacuated to save precious lives.
