Dr Asim approaches SC regarding ECL

Pakistan People’s Party leader Dr Asim Hussain has approached Supreme Court seeking early hearing of the case related to his name in Exit Control List (ECL) as he is due to visit UK for medical check-up in the second week of July.

The petitioner moved application through his counsel Sardar Latif Khan Khosa taking plea that he wanted to visit abroad for medical check-up in the case related to the liberty and health of the petitioner.

Khosa in the petition stated that the petitioner demanded that case be heard at an early date preferable on July 6, 2017 in the interest of justice.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sardar Latif Khosa, the petitioner’s counsel earlier filed the petition stating that his client was suffering from various chronic diseases which may cost him dearly if he wasn’t allowed to undergo medical treatment abroad.

The PPP leader has been facing corruption charges for allegedly depriving the public exchequer of Rs 462 million by misusing his authority to get land allotted illegally, encroaching upon the state land for expansion of Dr Ziauddin Hospital, money laundering and receiving kickbacks.

He was released from prison when the high court had granted him bail in two corruption cases.
