Oil tanker catches fire near Nawabshah

An oil tanker toppled in Nawabshah on the National Highway near Qazi Ahmed, according to media reports.

The oil tanker was carrying tonnes of litres of oil and caught fire immediately after, according to police.

According to media reports, fire brigade has yet to reach the site of the incident.

The whole area has been cordoned off by the police to avoid any unpleasant incidents.

Around 192 people were burnt to death in a similar incident when an oil tanker overturned on the National Highway on June 25 — a day before Eid.

A large number of people were burnt to death on the spot as the overturned oil tanker exploded into an inferno. They included passers-by and residents of a nearby area, who had gathered to collect oil that was leaking from the tanker.
