Senior politicians, serving and retired bureaucrats, diplomats and other notable personalities from various fields of life have gathered at the residence of Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed and offered their condolences on the death of his father Amjad Hussain Sayed, a retired colonel of the Pakistan Army.
Amjad Sayed, who was commissioned in the army in January 1942, was a gold medalist of the Pakistan Movement since he personally participated in the October 1937 session of the All India Muslim League in Lucknow and the March 1940 Lahore session of the All India Muslim League.
Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Gohar Ayub, Senator Abdul Qayyum, Ghulam Mustafa Malik, Shamsul Qayyum, Syed Ali Nawaz Gillani, Iranian Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost and other members of diplomatic core offered their condolence to Mushahid Hussain, Mujahid Hussain Sayed, Mowahid Hussain Sayed and Tahseen Sayed.
Pakistan Today Resident Editor Mian Abrar Hussain personally delivered condolences of Editor Arif Nizami to the bereavement family and prayed for the departed soul.
In a message, the Communist Party of China and the Chinese government have expressed heartfelt condolences to Senator Mushahid, who is chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC, on the death of his father.
Vice Minister of International Department of Central Committee of Communist Party of China Zheng Xiaosong expressed his shock and grief at the demise, and said that honourable Amjad Hussain Sayed had made important contributions to the struggle of the independence of Pakistan and for its development.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong personally visited the residence of Senator Mushahid to express heartfelt condolences with the family. In a message from the Consulate General of China in Lahore, Vice Consul Du Genqi said that Colonel Amjad Hussain was an icon of Pakistan’s freedom struggle and led a blessed and inspirational life.
“We are deeply touched by his stress on spiritual pursuits and embodiment of moral uprightness,” he said. The Xinhua news agency representatives also laid a special wreath of flowers on the grave of Colonel Amjad Hussain at the Shah Jamal’s graveyard in Lahore.
