LAHORE: A local court on Thursday adjourned the hearing of Khadija stabbing case till July 1.

Judicial Magistrate Mubashir Hassan Awan conducted the trial proceedings at Cantt Courts. The victim, Khadija, was also present during the hearing.

At the outset of proceedings, the counsel of the accused Shah Hussain, submitted a miscellaneous application with a request to drop Section 324 (attempt to murder) from the case. He contended that the case facts did not attract the provision and the police added it without reason.

Khadija’s counsel also moved a miscellaneous application to summon a police official again for cross-examination, while opposing the plea to drop Section 324 from the case.

At this, the court reserved verdict on both applications and adjourned further hearing till July 1.

A few weeks ago, LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah took administrative notice of Khadija stabbing case and directed the judicial magistrate to hear the trial on daily basis and conclude it in 30 days.

On May 3, 2016, Khadija was allegedly stabbed 23 times by her classmate on Davis Road in Lahore.
