A lift, formed by local residents themselves for transportation purposes, has fallen in a local hotel in Murree near the Banwai area killing 10 people and injuring two.
The injured are being rushed to Holy Family Hospital as authorities rush to the scene.
The cable car was installed by locals without approval from the concerned departments. It was being used to travel from Tret to Dannah village.
When asked if the cable car was being used for commercial purposes, Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Talat Mehmood Gondal said that the incident took place in Abbottabad district which is part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the provincial government would be able to answer this question.
“We received a call of the accident taking place and Rescue 1122 along with District Rawalpindi immediately mobilised and the rescue operation was completed at the earliest,” the Rawalpindi DC added.
A spokesperson for the Galiyat Development Authority said the main chairlift in Ayubia had not been affected and is being operated as per routine.
It was a cheap locally built lift of extremely poor quality. It should not have been allowed in the first place. The picture shown above is of Murree Pindi Point chairlift which is not the accident site. Please fix the error so that people are not misguided
Please fix the picture. It is misguiding people.
