Mass funeral prayer offered for victims of Ahmedpur Sharqia tragedy

BAHAWALPUR: The 125 victims of oil tanker fire tragedy of Ahmedpur Sharqia have been laid to rest after a mass funeral prayer was offered. The bodies were buried in numbered graves by the district administration.

The funeral prayer was attended members of Parliament of Bahawalpur division, civil officials and thousands of people of the area.

The administration said that DNA samples of the victims have been taken and will be matched by those of their relatives to ascertain the identities of numbered graves.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the massive fuel tanker fire has risen to 160 as three more of the victims have died overnight. A case against the owner, driver, and manager of the oil tanker that precipitated 160 deaths and injured over 100 others has been registered. The owner of Lakki Marwat Group’s oil tanker Haji Husnain, Manager Khalid Razzaq, and driver Gul Muhammad were nominated in the FIR.
