AHMADPUR EAST: 162 people are confirmed to be dead in the Ahmedpur oil tanker incident, and the number is expected to increase further, according to reports. 153 of the deceased have been laid to rest today.
Meanwhile, work has begun on removing the debris of burnt motorbikes, cars and rickshaws that were parked on the road.
One side of the road has been opened for regular traffic.
An oil tanker in Ahmedpur East overturned on the highway on 25th July, killing at least 162 people while injuring many. The tanker slipped at the road and overturned, causing huge amounts of oil to leak from the tanker. Hundreds of people from nearby villages riding bikes and cars rushed to the scene to collect oil. Soon after a huge fire erupted in the oil tanker hence causing the tragedy.
