BADIN: Badin’s Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) beneficiaries had to face many difficulties, including standing in queues for a long period of time, to get their amounts of the special packages which were by the government.
Many poor women and men who were from different union councils which included: Seerani, Bhugra Memon, Ahmed Raja, Abdullah Shah, Khalifo Qasim, Kadhan, Behdmi, Nindo, Luwari Sharif, Tando Bago and other areas, were compelled to stay the night in front of the ATM machines at different banks, including Habib Bank, Al-Habib Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB), National Bank and others in the city.
People, while talking to local media, alleged that the banks’ guards were taking money from them.
They said that despite passing few nights in front of the ATM machines, their turns never came.
Sources also added that some people were deputed to operate the ATMs who demanded a certain amount from the beneficiaries as their service of operating the ATM. Meanwhile, the huge crowd was seen outside the banks of district Badin.
On the other hand, violating the instructions of State Bank of Pakistan, the ATMs of some banks were shut down for several hours, mentioning the different causes, including no service, link down and amount shortage etc.
