KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has allowed Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar for going abroad on an official visit.
The petition filed by Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar, nominated in the case of facilitating terrorists, seeking permission for going abroad came up for hearing on Friday.
The petitioner stated in the plea that he wanted to visit Russia for 8 days in connection with official work; therefore, the court should allow him to undertake this visit.
He further stated that his visit to Russia was 8 days visit. During his visit to Russia an important meeting regarding Karachi would also be held; therefore, his passport should be returned to him.
The court has allowed him to undertake foreign visit on surety bonds of Rs2000, 000, while a letter has also been sent to the FIA authorities seeking permission for a foreign visit.
