The Indian media is finally catching onto Amir Liaquat

Pakistanis are very familiar with Aamir Liaquat Hussain and in turn his media persona. A career which has been characterized by his religious influence in televised programming, annual Ramadan transmissions and ,most recently, social commentary. With his recent comments on the Bol News network ,with regards to the banter on social media during tournament season, he seems to have attracted the Indian Media’s attention.

What followed, was a series of headlines and posts on Indian outlets.

Apart from the provocative headlines, the posts themselves provided commentary on Liaquat’s actions.

Profanity was filled to the brim with the language he used against India. He then linked this victory with Kashmir and took out a scathing attack on Rishi Kapoor, Arnab Goswami and Virendra Sehwag.  -Nyooz

The anchor does not even spare Bollywood actor, Rishi Kapoor by saying, “We don’t use Kapoor in our names, we eat Kapoor”, in response to the actor’s tweets taking a dig at Pakistan prior to the contest. -MensXP

One of its TV anchors, Aamir Liaquat, went on a wild rant against India on his show ‘Aise Nahi Chalega’ on Bol channel. He refused to stay on the news that mattered and instead took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bollywood actors, and of course captain of the Indian team, Virat Kohli. -Financial Express

On his show titled ‘Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga‘ on BOL News, Pakistani anchor Aamir Liaquat, drunk with jingoistic rhetoric, went on a full-fledged rant sparing nobody. -Scoop Whoop

And while this was the one time Pakistanis were actually rooting for Aamir Liaquat given the sensitivity of the trash talk and the magnitude of the event, this kind of behaviour can only be discouraged. And it can be hoped that perhaps being internationally made fun off will somehow convince the good doctor to be just a little more normal.
