Lawyers supporting accused murderer attack victim’s lawyers, family

LAHORE: Supporters of the suspected murderer of a young woman attacked three young lawyers representing the victim, in courtroom on Thursday morning, according to reports.

According to details, Shabir Hussain, Osama and Noor, the young lawyers from Asma Jehanghir office inside the court room of Lahore High judge Justice Abdul Samee Khan this morning were representing a woman whose daughter was kidnapped and possibly murdered six months ago.

The alleged murderer is a senior lawyer Maqsood Buttar, member Pakistan Bar Council, who married the daughter of the complainant, a young 26 year old, who was working at the lawyer’s office at that time. Asma Jehanghir appeared on her behalf yesterday. The judge ordered the DIG police investigation to appear before him today.

While the DIG was recording his statement today, a large group of lawyers, who were the supporters of Maqsood Buttar, gathered in the courtroom. They were chanting slogans against Asma Jahangir, complainant, the mother of the “missing” girl, NGOs and started beating Asma Jehangir’s lawyers’ team. They also thrashed the plaintiff’s family and threatened the legal team of dire consequences.

The young lawyer’s and victims family were taken out of court premises under strict police protection.

Ayesha Bibi along with her two-year-old son reportedly went missing on 30th November 2016. According to her mother, she last saw Ayesha Bibi when the victim was visiting her. “It’s been almost seven months now and the two are still missing, I fear they are gone forever. On the day of her disappearance Ayesha came to my house and left with Buttar’s clerk,” she claimed.

According to her mother, Ayesha and her two-year-old son had been living in a flat located in Model Town Lahore. “It was November 30, 2016, when I visited my daughter’s residence in Model Town. There were no traces of her and my grandson,” she further claimed.

She said that Ayesha’s husband abused her a regular basis. The victim’s brother claimed that his family is receiving death threats from the accused.
