KARACHI: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) will establish two universities in Balochistan, one each in Zhob and Dera Murad Jamali.
Recently, the Planning Commission has approved two proposals of HEC to establish these colleges in Balochistan. The University College Zhob will be a constituent college of Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), Quetta and will offer four-year degree programmes in business administration, economics, computer sciences and information technology. The Balochistan government has allotted a piece of land measuring 100 acres for the college and the Federal government will construct infrastructure at a cost of Rs1.260 billion.
The second university college will be established in Dera Murad Jamali and will be a constituent college of the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences, Uthal. The College will offer Bachelor degree programmes in agricultural sciences, environmental sciences, education, sociology and computer sciences in its initial phase. The college will also offer diploma courses in livestock and dairy development and food technology/food sciences to youth in the region.
The Balochistan government has identified 500 acres of land at Dera Murad Jamali for the establishment of the college. While Rs1.503 billion will be provided by the HEC for infrastructure development.
we appricaite the initiative of HEC in improving the deprived situation of education in Balochistan. The establishment of such universities are the dire need of time.
University of Loralai was established in 2009 at loralai as a sub campus of Unversity of Balochistan.
But till to date it is suffering from scarcity of basic facilities. The future of student are dependent the strength of teachers. But in UoLi all the heads of department have hired teacher on daily wages paying them only Rs.750/period. They did not scrutnized their qualification some of them are those who were recruited in balochistan package as teacher by the then governmt of PPP in 2008 only for the sake of providing employement to the youth of Balochistan. Maximum Head master and notables of the community have refused to keep them in their schoold on the basis of their uncapablity. Now such teacher are teaching in UoLi and plying with the future of Balochistan. The current enrollment in the UOLi is less than 300 hundred students. The current campus of university is consist of only 4 rooms. The basic pillars of University consist of Registran, Treasurar and Controller examination. Unfortunately UoLi have only one pillar of Registrar who is working on acting basis. There are no bathrooms for students. No imigination for electricity. 3 buses are standing on blocks. we can only make sefies with these buses. Vice Chanceller did not visit for months.
We request HEC authorities to take strick action against the responsible authrities and to overcome on these issues.
Best Regards
