Eid to fall on Monday: RHRC experts

LAHORE: Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on Monday (June 26). The new moon will be visible in almost all parts of the country on the evening of June 25 (Sunday) in the case of clear weather.

Experts of the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) have given this conclusion after a thorough research on the movement of the moon, said RHRC General Secretary Khalid Ijaz Mufti, while talking to APP, on Thursday.

He explained that the new moon cannot be visible till it has attained an age of 19 hours at the sunset and there must also be a 40 minutes difference between the sunset and the moonset.

“The moon of Shawal-e-Mukaram will born on Saturday (June 24) at 7:31 am as per Pakistan Standard Time (PST). On the evening of June 25 its age will be 35 hours 56 minutes in Peshawar, 35 hours 52 minutes in Islamabad, 35 hours 40 minutes in Lahore, 35 hours 56 minutes in Karachi and 36 hours 07 minutes in Quetta”, he said.

He said that the difference between the time of the sunset and the moonset will be 70 minutes in Peshawar, 70 minutes in Islamabad, 71 minutes in Lahore, 73 minutes in Quetta and 76 minutes in Karachi.

The research clearly reflects that the moon will be visible on Sunday evening in all parts of the country, he added.

To a question, he said there was not a remote possibility of the appearance of the moon in Peshawar, KPK, FATA or any other part of the country on Saturday evening (June 24).

“You will not be able to see the moon even with a telescope in any part of the country on Saturday”, he added.

“On Saturday evening the age of moon will be less than 12 hours and 15 minutes in all parts of Pakistan and the difference between the sunset and moonset will also not be more than 17 minutes, due to which it is not possible for anyone to see the moon on Saturday”, he explained. If anyone claims so it will be totally illogical and wrong, he stressed.
