Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Babar Awan has finally decided to tender resignation from Senate and join Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI).
Reliable sources told that Babar Awan will be hosting an Iftar dinner in honour of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and other party leaders here today (Friday) at his residence. On this occasion, he will announce formally joining of PTI.
It is worth to mention that Babar Awan has served as federal minister. He also presented before the court in many cases of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari. During the last few months, Babar Awan was providing legal assistance to PTI leadership. The sources said that Babar Awan took decision of leaving PPP after consultation with lawyers group. He will soon present his resignation to Senate chairman Senate.
Awan was elected as senator in 2012 on PPP’s ticket. His term as senator will expire in 2018. It is to be mentioned here that many senior PPP leaders from Punjab have joined PTI in recent days and there are reports that many others are in negotiation with PTI leadership to join the party.
