PESHAWAR: Peshawar district administration has arrested 77 persons in a crackdown against profiteers in different areas of Peshawar, including Hayatabad Township.
The arrested profiteers included nanbais, fresh milk sellers, vegetable and fruit sellers, butchers, shopkeepers and others.
On the directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Saqib Raza Aslam, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mohammad Mughees Sanaullah along with Additional Assistant Commissioner Bashir Ahmad conducted raids in Ghanta Ghar, Sabzi Mandi and GT Road areas and arrested 19 profiteers; while AACs Shazia Atta and Tariq Mahmood conducted raids in different markets of Hayatabad and Nasir Bagh Road and arrested 22 profiteers.
A majority of the arrested nanbais were accused of selling underweight roti (bread).
Similarly, AAC Tariq Hussain and Javed Anwar Kamal arrested 12 persons from Bana Mari and Ramdas areas while AAC Sohail Aziz arrested 12 profiteers from Charsadda Road and Faqirabad areas.
AAC Qaiser Khan carried out raids at Warsak Road and Kotwali areas and arrested 13 persons.
