ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has deputed special police teams at various bus stands of the city to check overcharging of fares as well as overloading by transporters.
SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob said on Wednesday that the ITP has taken this step to facilitate people when they will leave for their native city for upcoming Eid.
He said the decision has been made to take strict action against those involved in such practices and special squads have appointed at bus and waggon stands of the city.
Malik Matloob said special pickets will be set up at various points which will ask from the passengers about the paid fare and entire crew will face strict action in case of overcharging and overloading, besides returning the overcharged amount to the commuters.
He said a special cell has been set up to lodge complaints about overcharging practices while banners having the contact number of traffic police have been also placed at bus stands to tackle this issue.
