LAHORE: Fatima Jinnah Award distribution ceremony will be held on Thursday under the auspices of the Punjab Women Development Department (WDD).
According to WDD sources on Wednesday, Punjab Minister for Finance Dr Ayesha Ghous Pasha would be the chief guest on the occasion.
Arrangements for the ceremony have been finalised by the WDD.
The WDD in light of diversified fields proposed “Women’s Empowerment” as the theme for the year.
Awards will be conferred on women who have proven their mettle for the cause of women empowerment, in the field of education, social mobilisation, community work, art culture and sports.
According to the criteria, Fatima Jinnah Women of the year award will be given to the woman who has a history of success and a minimum experience of 10 years in her respective field.
It is pertinent to mention that Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sahrif on the International Women Day 2016 had approved conferment of the prestigious Fatima Jinnah Award to those women who have rendered great services and shown extra-ordinary courage in achieving their goals in various fields.
