Fakhar Zaman is currently basking in the love and adoration that the entire country is showering upon him after his monumental match-winning century against arch rivals India in the CT final last Sunday. The left handed, swashbuckling, batsmen was met with an amazing reception back to Pakistan and has since been on the receiving end of a lifetime of fast-food supply, prize money and a 1-Kannal plot in Bahria Town.
However this is not the end of the line for all the things being bestowed upon Fakhar Zaman, because for his performance against India and his general brilliance in the tournament, the district government Mardan has now announced that they are naming a chowk after the player!
The notification issued by the district government is an executive order changing the ‘katlang chowk’ in Mardan to the Fakhar Zaman Chowk effective immediately in recognition of the instrumental role he played in Pakistan’s Champions Trophy triumph.
A video has also surfaced showing a banner being put up at the chowk with an image of Fakhar Zaman and the words ‘Fakhar Zaman Chowk.
And if the naming of the chowk was not enough, the KP government has also announced their decision to name a school after Zaman! The KP Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Atif Khan called Zaman and congratulated him on his role in the win and told him the government would be building a school in the province that would be named after him.
The opener has done pretty well for himself considering he debuted only 4 games ago, and everyone will be hoping that he keeps reaping the benefits of good performances by continuing to do so!
