ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has summoned a meeting in Islamabad on Wednesday (today) to discuss the delimitation of constituencies across the country.

Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd) Sardar Raza Khan will preside over the meeting, which will be briefed by Chief Census Commissioner Asif Bajwa.

Bajwa will brief participants about the census data required by the ECP for delimitation of constituencies. The recent completion of the census after a lag of nearly two decades is marked by an increase in the number of electoral constituencies according to the latest population data.

The upcoming elections in the middle of next year, necessitate that the ECP utilises accurate census data to mark new constituencies in the country’s electoral map.
