CCPO orders tightening security ahead of Eid

LAHORE:  Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Amin Wains ordered combing operations and mock exercises to ensure fool proof security on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitar in the city.

The CCPO was presiding over a high-level meeting to finalise foolproof security measures on the eve of Eid at the Qila Gujjar Singh Police Lines on Monday.

DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, DIG Investigation Ch Sultan, DIG Security Dr Moeen, Chief Traffic Officer SSP Rai Ijaz Ahmad, SSP Investigation Ghulam Mubashir Maken, Anti-Riot Police Unit SP Muhammad Naveed, SP Mobiles Faisal Shehzad, CIA SP Tariq Mastoi, divisional SPs and all the SHOs were present on the occasion.

CCPO Wains said that every divisional SP will conduct mock exercises and combing operations in their respective areas. He also ordered to provide foolproof security to all the important buildings according to their category, while adding that a foolproof security will be ensured at all the entry and exit points of the city.

He also ordered a strict action against one wheeling and aerial firing till Eid and directed the police officers to ensure effective patrolling in the areas where the crime rate was on the rise.

Dr Haider Ashraf said that the officers and officials provided fool proof security to visitors on the eve of Youm-e-Ali which deserve appreciation. The most protective method to secure any event is a comprehensive briefing to the deputed force, he added.

CTO Rai Ijaz said that the City Traffic Police will also provide the best transport facilities to the citizens on the eve of Eid. A special traffic plan has been programmed to ensure a smooth flow of the traffic at markets and important roundabouts. The CTO appealed to the citizens for cooperation with the traffic wardens.
