LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has congratulated the Pakistan cricket team and the entire country on defeating India in the final of Champions Trophy.
In a felicitation message to national cricket team and management, the chief minister said that Pakistani players have made history by defeating traditional rivals India, upon which all players as well as management deserve appreciation.
The players performed and secured victory by absorbing the pressure of a high stakes match, he added. Shahbaz Sharif commended young batsman Fakhar Zaman by scoring a vital century. He said that opening batsman Azhar Ali and Muhammad Hafeez have also played really well
The entire team put in an all-round performance – their triumph a gift of Eid to the nation, he added.
He further said that the cricket team displayed teamwork through unity and achieved a splendid success. He also acknowledged the captaincy of Sarfraz Ahmad in utilising the best talents in the team to their full capabilities.
