The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday raided and sealed a factory using expired ingredients to manufacture popular soft drinks.
‘Shandy Cola’s production unit was sealed following the raid, Director Operations Rafia Haider said. A hundred thousand filled bottles and raw material for four-hundred thousand bottles was seized from the factory located on Lahore’s Sheikhupura Road. The soft-drink manufacturer was using chemicals as sweeteners, the PFA said.
‘The factory was imprinting a phoney address on the bottles to trick authorities,” Haider said. Samples of the cold drinks miserably failed quality tests, she added.
