PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Wednesday called upon local contractors to enhance their capacity and induct experienced manpower in their firms for timely completion of developmental schemes.
Presiding over a meeting on the projects and engagements of reputable construction companies like NLC, he said the reconstruction and development process initiated by his government would require an enhanced capacity of the local contractors and the local construction companies.
“We need to have the local machinery and equipment required for the developmental schemes to be completed in time. At the moment, the local contractors and companies neither have the skilled manpower nor the requisite machinery and equipment. Resultantly, the developmental and welfare work suffer,” he noted.
He said the delay carries a trickledown effect; therefore KP government has no other option but to engage big construction companies for the timely and quality completion of mega projects.
Pervez Khattak regretted that when PTI government engaged mega companies like NLC, the process of engagements was obstructed by the local contractors who brought the process of development to a standstill.
He said the past experiments proved that mega projects like Mufti Mahmood Flyover were not completed in due time which led to a wastage of resources.
The chief minister categorically said that his government would never compromise on public welfare and their prosperity. He said the reputed firms and companies would be part of the all-time big project that will give one solution to all the traffic congestion in Peshawar city.
