Free school bags for students in selected districts: Mashhood

 

Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has said that provision of quality education along with necessary educational facilities in public sector schools is top priority of the government.

He said this while presiding over a departmental meeting at the committee room of School Education Department here on Tuesday. The purpose was to motivate the children towards studies. In this regard, it has now been decided to provide school bags free of cost to the students along with textbooks.

The meeting reviewed development on different steps taken for the betterment of the school education. The minister told that in the first phase of this programme, students of prep, one, two and three classes would be given school bags and this programme will be started from Lahore, Toba Tek Singh, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur.

He said that a three member committee comprising of Schools Special secretary, Programme Director of Programme Monitoring and Implementation Unit Managing Director Curriculum and Textbook Board has been constituted to finalize this programme. The school bags will be very handy and will further promote the students towards studies. The government is fully committed to provide congenial atmosphere to the students and the Punjab School Education Reforms Programme has proved very successful in elevating the standard of education of public sector schools in the Punjab, concluded the school education Minister.

Schools Education Provincial Secretary Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik, PCTB MD Amir Ejaz and representatives of line departments attended the meeting.
