Primary suspect in Grand Hyatt Hotel case flees country 

ISLAMABAD: The primary culprit of Grand Hyatt Hotel’s billion of rupees scandal fled the country without apprising the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

This was told by an FIA officer to the court during the hearing of the petition filed by the chief executive of the private company BNP Abdul Hafiz Shaikh.

The officer told the court that last month an FIR had been registered against Abdul Hafiz Shaikh and former Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Kamran Lashari on charges of fraud.

In the FIR, former Planning member Brigadier (r) Nusrat, former Finance member Kamran Qureshi, former Administration member Shaukat Muhammad and former Engineering member Moin Kaka Khail, Additional Legal Advisor Roy Nawaz, former State Director Habibur Rehman Kellani and former Project Management Director Dr Faisal Awan were also nominated.

It was alleged in FIR that the builders had taken permission to build a luxury hotel but the accused constructed apartments fraudulently and received billion of rupees from the people.
