Improved law, order to pave way for international sports events: Sindh governor

KARACHI: Restoration of law and order has markedly revived hope for international level cricket matches and other sports events in the country, said Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair here on Tuesday.

During his visit to the Moin Khan Cricket Academy, he felicitated the national cricket team for its victory against Sri Lanka and emerging as a solid contender for the Champions Trophy.

“With 60 per cent of our population comprising youth this passion and fervour for cricket can be easily turned towards other positive pursuits,” he commented, while talking to senior cricketers and young players at the academy.

The governor emphasised a need for healthy recreational activities for the masses in general and claimed that the government was focused on the possibility of the optimum number of international events across the country.

“Convening the final of Pakistan Super League in Lahore was a major step in restoring a positive image of Pakistan among the world community,” he said.

Visiting different departments of the cricket academy run by former cricketer Moin Khan, the governor said the importance of such facilities was crucial for grooming of local youths as world level cricketers.

“This is extremely important and equally relevant to produce international level players,” he said.

Cricketer Moin Khan on the occasion thanked the Sindh governor and hoped that needed government support would be ensured for the training of young players in the province.
