Solar Power Company

Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park project had become functional in 2015 and since then generating 100 megawatt of power and generated a reasonably good profit of Rs 2 billion so far.

The Provincial Cabinet obviously will have taken all pros and cons into consideration prior to its approving the privatisation of the Solar Park project after due deliberations which reportedly lasted for about two hours.

Usually public sector enterprises which are running in substantial loss are privatised to avoid unnecessary burden these caused the public exchequer. But a pertinent question which has arisen and disturbing the public minds is as to why a public sector project is going to be privatised when it was running in profit. It would have been much appreciable if the factors which made the provincial cabinet take important decision of privatisation of the first of its kind solar park energy project were also duly notified. Privatisation of a profit yielding project will obviously provide a tool to the opposition parties for criticising the provincial government on this account.
