All the films that I’ve done are close to me, says Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan’s filmography boasts of blockbusters like Lagaan, Rang De Basanti and Dangal. The credit, he says, goes to his heart. Asked about his favourite film, Aamir said, “All the films that I have done are very close to me and I don’t measure them based on business.”

But one can’t overlook Dangal’s massive success which surpassed the Rs1,000 crore-mark of box office collections in China – a first for any Indian film. “Taare Zameen Par is as close to me as Dangal, so are PK, 3 Idiots and Lagaan. I can’t differentiate between any one of them. All are equally important to me,” he said.
So is Aamir under pressure to out-do Dangal next time? “No, I don’t feel that kind of pressure. I follow my heart as far as creative decisions go. It’s never affected by the success of my previous films,” he responded. “My choice of films is dictated by my emotional interest and my creative interest.” Aamir is currently shooting for Thugs of Hindostan in Malta.

The film will bring him together with megastar Amitabh Bachchan on the big screen for the first time. “I’m most excited to work with Amitabh Bachchan; it’s a dream come true. I’ve always been his huge fan,” said Aamir.

“My next film is Secret Superstar. It’s about a 14-year-old girl and I love it. It’s a beautiful story,” the actor revealed. Asked if he thinks Secret Superstar will become as successful as Dangal, Aamir replied, “I had no idea that Taare Zameen Par would be a huge success. I did it because of the story. It’s not a conventional mainstream one…”

Aamir is also gearing up for Salute, which will be his second biopic after Dangal. He has associated with producers Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala for the film, a biopic on India’s first astronaut Rakesh Sharma.
