First death sentence handed to man for blasphemy on social media

BAHAWALPUR: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) the other day announced death sentence to a man for uploading blasphemous content on social media.

As per Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) , the accused used to upload blasphemous and hateful content on social networking sites.

He was detained by CTD a year ago and a case was registered against him under relevant clauses of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The ATC conducted hearings of the case in New Central Jail Bahawalpur, over the one year period. The court  eventually handed death sentence to the accused.

The accused is allowed a right to appeal  against the ATC verdict in high court and the Supreme Court.

  1. the sentence is only death in 21st century Pakistan for putting down arrays of words the government doesn’t agree with. Humanity, well done, you are so prepared for real threats.
