Rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds likely at isolated places

ISLAMABAD: Rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA), Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir in next 24 hours, while a hot and dry weather will continue in most parts of the country.

Rainfall is likely at Bannu, Kohat, Sargodha, DI Khan, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur divisions, FATA, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

A shallow westerly wave is affecting upper and central parts of the country and likely to persist during next two days, an official of Met office told APP.

In last 24 hours, isolated places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, DG Khan, Multan, Malakand, Hazara, Kohat divisions, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir witnessed rain-thunderstorm with gusty winds, however, the weather remained hot and dry in other parts of the country.

Rainfall recorded during this time span remained Punjab: Chakwal 61mm, Gujrat 11mm, Murree 08mm, Mandibahauddin 04mm, Sargodha 03mm, Mangla 02mm, Sialkot 01mm, KP: Kakul 06mm, Balakot 05mm, Kohat, Dir 02mm, Kashmir: Garidupatta, Kotli 07mm, Rawalakot 04mm, Gilgit-Baltistan and Bagrote 04mm.

Maximum temperatures recorded on Saturday were Dadu 46 degrees Celsius, and Larkana, Jacobabad, Sibbi, Dalbandin, Nokkundi, Sukkur 45 degrees Celcius, Multan, Hyderabad 41 degrees Celsius, Faisalabad 40 degrees Celsius, Lahore 39 degrees Celsius, Peshawar 37 degrees Celsius, and Karachi, Quetta 36 degrees Celsius, Chitral, Islamabad 33 degrees Celsius, Dir 31 degrees Celsius, Muzaffarabad 28 degrees Celsius, Gilgit 27 degrees Celsius, Skardu 24 degrees Celsius and Murree 20 degrees Celsius.
