Murad Ali Shah inaugurates Sachal Sarmast’s Urs

KHAIRPUR: Sindh Chief Minister Mural Ali Shah inaugurated the 196th Urs celebrations of Sufi saint Hazrat Sachal Sarmast at shrine the city of Daraza Sharif on Saturday.

The chief minister laid a wreath on the grave of the multilingual Sufi poet and offered fateha to mark the beginning of the annual Urs celebrations. He was accompanied by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders and cabinet members.

He also enjoyed Sachal Sarmast kalam from his Faqirs after inaugurating the Urs celebrations.

Murad Ali Shah said Sindh is the land of Sufis who fostered peace, brotherhood and harmony.

Security arrangements at the shrine have already been beefed up for three-day Urs celebrations to pay respects to Hazrat Sachal Sarmast.

The Urs would conclude on June 12.

Murad Ali Shah, while speaking to the media during the visit, said that the province is not being provided electricity intentionally.

The chief minister reiterated that load shedding is held for 20 hours daily. “The federal government has failed in completing its legal duties,” he remarked.

“I spoke against K-Electric and Hyderabad Electric Supply Company in my budget speech.”

He remarked that “Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz should first endeavour to save itself from the Joint Investigation Team and then blame us.”

Murad Ali Shah also said that Imran Khan will never succeed in defeating Pakistan Peoples Party.

Speaking about the protest by city council members over budget allocation, he said that funds have been allocated as per the law.
