Power cuts in Karachi continue as authorities remain silent

KARACHI: Power outages in Karachi continued on the 12th day of Ramazan, causing distress for citizens.

Major power outages were witnessed in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Gulistan-e-Johar, University Road, Keamari, Masan Chowk, New Karachi’s Sector 5-A1A, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad and North Nazimabad, Shahrah Noor Jahan, Scheme 33, Lyari, Gulbahar, and Safoora Goth.

As a result of this, some people took to the streets in various areas of the city.

On the other hand, K-Electric spokespersons have reiterated that the ongoing power issue cannot be termed as usual load shedding problem. “It is wrong to label local faults as ‘load shedding’,” they had stated earlier.

K-Electric had previously noted that extra high tension (EHT) lines in various parts of lower Sindh had tripped repeatedly ever since Ramazan started, leading to disruption in electricity and becoming a source of irritation for Karachiites during Sehri and Iftar times.

For now, it looks like the relevant authorities have gone back on all promises they made to not carry out load-shedding during Ramazan, as Karachi continues facing power cuts.
