PFA cracks ‘a million rotten eggs’

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA), in a raid on a biscuit powder making factory in Manga Mandi area, had confiscated more than one million rotten eggs on Thursday.

According to a spokesman of the PFA, the factory used to make powder for renowned biscuit factories from eggs. The PFA raided Alwaha egg processing unit and seized eggs worth Rs 15 million.  The eggs were rotten to the extent that even chicks have been hatched out from some of them.

Meanwhile, the PFA director general said that the factory was sealed A few days back; however, it was still operational, though illegally. He said people who were committing adulteration will be strictly punished soon.

All the rotten eggs were discarded and the factory was re-sealed. Moreover, a case was also registered against the factory owner.
